FAMILY MINISTRY | Return to Ministry List
The purpose of the Manhattan Church of Christ Family Ministry is:
1) To support the families within our congregation and community
2) To encourage a sense of intergenerational community within the congregation
We have special groups and seminars that are intended to support the family relationships within our congregation and community. Topics include the following: marriage, parenting, step-parenting, financial management.
The sense of family within our congregation is nurtured by times of intergenerational fellowship and worship, and the celebration of important life events (holidays, births, graduations, etc).
Family First Fridays
Family First Fridays are a time of intergenerational worship and fellowship during the summer months. Watch for the schedule in May!
- We come together at 6 p.m. for dinner and friendship.
- From 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. we have a time of intergenerational worship. We sing songs with hand movements, move around and make lots of noise as we worship God together. As a group we learn a lesson from the Bible and participate in a learning activity. Adults learn about God from watching the kids sing praises. And kids witness the adults express their faith as well.
- Finally, from 8 p.m. until 9 p.m., there is childcare for the kids while the adults discuss some aspect of parenting. The topic and format vary-guest speakers, video presentation, panel discussion.
Watch the calendar for dates! Family First Friday is held on the First Friday evening of selected months.
Mom's Prayer Group
The mom's prayer group meets the first Friday of each month. This is a relaxed time of prayer for the moms and fun for the kids.
