FAITH & FILM | Return to Ministry List
The purpose of this ministry is to
develop conversation and reflection within our congregation
concerning modern society as reflected in films. We also wish
to build fellowship within our congregation and opportunities
for dialogue with those outside our community around the viewing
and discussion of a current important movie.
Movies are one of the most influential forms of entertainment
and art in popular culture. They are part of the shared cultural
language between Christians and non-Christians and influence
all of us by providing images and stories that we often use
to make sense of our experience of the world. One evening
each month, we watch a good movie together on the big screen
in our auditorium. After the viewing - complete with popcorn
and other refreshments - we have a lively and easy-going conversation
about significant issues or questions raised by the film.
It's a great way to spend an evening.
Faith and Film happens one Friday evening each month. Watch
for announcements.
Over the last few months we have discussed the following films:
The Matrix, The Lord of the Rings I and II, Forrest Gump,
and Antwone Fisher. We are always open for suggestions by
e-mail of good movie fare. |
