The purpose of the Community of Hope ministry is to model the compassion of Christ through the meeting of people's physical and spiritual needs. We minister particularly to the homeless and poor of our neighborhoods, but the services are open to any who wish to receive this ministry.
The Community of Hope is open every week at the Manhattan Church building on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for guests to take showers, have a snack or meal, rest, share a Bible study, and watch a movie. We also meet at the Manhattan Church building on third Saturday of the month for extensive clothing distribution, showers, Bible study, bag lunch, fellowship, and a movie.
The Community of Hope meets on the second Saturday of the month at the building of the Park Avenue Christian Church at 85th Street & Park Avenue from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. for a hot meal, Bible study, and fellowship.
Community of Hope volunteers visit people who are sick and shut in once a week. Our schedules and times vary according to need. The ministry leader can provide contacts for those who can participate.
Community of Hope also provides pen pals for prison inmates. The ministry leader can provide contacts.
Volunteers are always needed for all areas of this ministry. |
