About Us
David P. Swearingen started his service as an Elder of the Manhattan Church of Christ in August 2003. He and his wife, Karen, as well as their children, Dawne Swearingen and Ryan Swearingen, have worshipped at MCOC since August 1999.
A life-long member of the Church of Christ, David has previously lived and worshipped as a Deacon and Youth Leader in Tinton Falls, NJ (Monmouth Church of Christ), and Walnut Creek, California. He is a native of Boise, Idaho, where he also became a Christian as a young man.
A graduate of Pepperdine University, Malibu, Calif., with a degree in communications and broadcasting, David served nearly 25 years in the Air National Guard in Idaho, California and New Jersey, retiring as a senior staff officer in 1994.
Within his Christian and professional life, David has dedicated his attention to special service, including work as a youth leader and music, as well as other special outreach programs. As Vice President, Communications, Medical Devices & Diagnostics, of Johnson & Johnson, the diversified international health care company, he focuses on the importance of special new treatments and medical products for improving the health and well-being of patients.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the St. Barnabas Hospital's Burn Foundation, in Livingston, NJ; a member of the New Jersey Governor's Task Force on Child Abuse & Neglect; a recent past member of the President's Strategic Planning Committee, of Thirteen/WNET (PBS), New York; a member of the Public Relations Society of America, the National Investor Relations Institute, the Global Public Affairs Institute, the San Francisco Press Club, San Francisco Public Relations Round Table, and the Air Force Association.
