AMY BOST HENEGAR | Associate Minister
About Us
Amy grew up in Los Angeles and did her undergraduate work at Pepperdine University. She earned a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and worked as a hospital chaplain in California and New York City before becoming the Children’s Minister for the Manhattan Church of Christ.
After about seven years in Children’s Ministry, Amy changed her ministry focus to the nurturing and care of her three children, their dad and their dog, but she continues to find moments to think, pray and work with the ministry staff of the Manhattan Church. She works with the congregation primarily in the areas of women’s ministry, Christian education, and the spiritual formation of children and adults. A trained labor support doula and childbirth educator, she loves working with women and couples through the journey of pregnancy and childbirth. She also feels a passion and calling to minister to those who are suffering from infertility and pregnancy loss. Amy likes to write and has a number of articles that have been published in Leaven: A Journal of Christian Ministry, as well as a chapter in the book Trusting Women: the Way of Women in Churches of Christ. She also enjoys the opportunity to preach both for the Manhattan Church as well as for other congregations. Her MCOC sermons can be found on our Sermon Notes page.
Through her almost 20 years in professional ministry, Amy has had the privilege of performing weddings, presiding over funerals, and leading baby dedications; she loves the opportunity to participate in the sacred rituals that mark people’s lives.
